¹⁰ Come, let us ^(A)deal wisely with them, lest they multiply and it be ^[a]in the event of war, that they also join themselves to those who hate us and fight against us and ^(B)go up from the land.” ¹¹ So they appointed ^(C)taskmasters over them to afflict them with ^[b](D)hard labors. And they built for Pharaoh ^(E)storage cities, Pithom and ^(F)Raamses. ¹² But the more they afflicted them, ^(G)the more they multiplied and the more they ^[c]spread out, so that they were in dread of the sons of Israel.
